Local PE specialist Danny Taylor came in and ran Taster sessions in different Paralympic sports for every class in the school.

We are very fortunate that our regional School Games leader, Danny Taylor, is equipped to run Paralympic sports and more to the point, is enthusiastic about doing so! We were lucky enough to get two days of his time for him to come in and give every class in the whole school a taster in a Paralympic sport. There was Boccia, Sitting Volleyball and Goalball going on – each class was able to choose what they wanted.

It was very special because children in school who are sometimes not able to fully participate in ordinary class PE lessons were able to join in, and in some cases, become experts at, their class sport.

Every child in the school was involved and the children were able to reflect on their experiences afterwards. Comments included, “It was much harder than I thought”, “It made me feel special”, and “I liked playing different sports to normal”. An all-round success!
