Anthony Joshua - Boxing

Hometown: London
Sport: Boxing
Event: Super heavyweight
Games: London 2012

At London 2012, Anthony won Gold in the super heavyweight category to give him World Number 1 spot in the AIBA rankings.

Anthony was a gifted sportsman as a youth; he was a fast runner and an excellent footballer. It was not until he tried boxing at the age of eighteen that he found his sporting vocation. Anthony was quick to rise through the ranks and in May 2011, he became Senior ABAE Champion in the +95kg category.

Anthony was invited to join Team GB's boxing squad and in November 2010, he became Champion of Great Britain. Anthony started 2011 ranked 46th in the world and by the end of the year, he was ranked at number three!

Anthony says that his success in sport has changed him and that he wants to give something back: "I don't want to be the type of role model that turns up, does a speech and leaves. I want to interact and be there to answer any questions that the youth might have. I want to make a difference."
