Get Set has launched a brand new initiative to help young people get involved with their local communities. If you’re part of a school or a youth organisation, you can help us create active, connected communities by becoming a Get Set Beacon.

What is a Get Set Beacon?

We are on the hunt for champion schools and organisations who are willing to go the extra mile for their community to become one of 45 nationally-representative Get Set Beacons, and be part of a new active movement!

This is new initiative that has been set up to help schools and youth organisations from across the UK inspire their local communities to get active. The initiative will run across the 2018/2019 academic year.

By becoming a Get Set Beacon, you will receive exclusive funding, as well as training, introductions to local partners, logos and resources, and ongoing support to help bring your activities to life. Each Get Set Beacon will need to appoint a Beacon leader, who will receive expert face-to-face training (27 September 2018, Birmingham, including a travel and cover allowance) and Team GB and ParalympicsGB goodies.

This Beacon leader will be asked to assemble a team of young people within your organisation will get your local community active across the 2018/2019 academic year. Involving young people throughout in shaping your goals and planning your activities will be a key element of your journey as a Get Set Beacon.

We want to know how you’re making a difference, so we will be asking Beacons to share their success stories with us on a termly basis so we can see the impact of Beacons across the country. Any school or youth organisation across the UK can take part, represented by teachers or community leaders who work with young people.
