At Phillimore Primary School in Darnall, Sheffield, we have an action packed week building up to International Olympic Day on the 23rd June 2019. On Monday we have an open afternoon displaying healthy, nutritious food and ways to keep athletes healthy, an understanding of the 'Eat Well Guide' and links between our gardening and cooking clubs. We've invited other schools, the media and councillors from Sheffield City Council to learn about what is happening at Phillimore. On Tuesday, our Y6s go swimming for the second time this week. In Gymnastics club we are creating a dance sequence to show at Sports Day inspired by the Olympic rings. On Wednesday our Y6 sports leaders run the KS1 inclusive Sports Day and on Thursday, we run the KS2 inclusive Sports Day. Each child is in a vertical team (mixed pupils from each year group) named after a different country. We have bronze, silver and gold medals ready to award the teams who come 3rd, 2nd and 1st and individual trophies to award pupils who have demonstrated the Olympic and Paralympic values during the day. Fingers crossed for sunshine!
