KEY INFORMATION

Recommended age group: 7–14
Time required: one 45–60 minute session
Equipment: One small white ball (the jack), twelve larger coloured balls or bean bags, chairs, cones to mark out the players’ box and the court, a ramp (for severely impaired students who cannot roll, kick or throw a ball or beanbag), a tape measure.


ACTIVITY IDEA

A generation of boccia talent has emerged from Great Britain with success from Nigel Murray winning Gold in Sydney and individual Silver in Beijing. Nigel then teamed up with David Smith, Dan Bentley and Zoe Robinson who won the first ever team Gold medal in Beijing. Great Britain had a strong, youthful squad of nine for the London 2012 Paralympics Games. David Smith won a Silver medal in the Mixed Individual event while the Mixed Team won a Bronze medal.
