Recommended age group: 5-11
Time required: Each challenge will take approximately 5 minutes
Equipment: Bean bags or cushions and a soft surface (such as gym mats or carpet), with bare feet!


ACTIVITY IDEA

Across 4 challenges, you will learn and try different taekwondo skills to help you in your journey on the Path to Paris. In each video, our GB athletes will show you various new skills and test you to beat them in our mini challenges. Each challenge will take approximately 5 minutes.  

Complete the challenges in a day, a week or over 4 weeks. The choice is yours!


Challenge 1 - Leg Control

How long can you hold your leg in the air without touching the ground? Watch this video to see our GB athletes demonstrate an easy balance and leg control challenge!

 

Challenge 2 – Footwork 

Learning from the professionals, this challenge involves mastering the quick footwork needed to be a taekwondo star.  
 
Working with a partner, try to move around and tap your partners shoulders.

Challenge 3 – Taekwondo Kicks

Watch our GB athletes demonstrate new kicks for you to try. How many can you do without putting your foot back on the ground?

You can use a pillow or cushion as an alternative for the kicking pads that the athletes use in the video.

  

Challenge 4 – Cool Combos

Watch the video to find discover your final challenge!  
In this last challenge we're combining all the skills learnt from previous tasks to introduce a sequence of different kicks and movements for you to try and master. Are you up to the challenge?
